Re: Whats going on at ANH
Sorry Chixdigit, I wasn't suggesting you didn't post a lot - I know you were very active (the counts you mention don't surprise me). It's just that, of the outstanding bugs, not so many are yours. I was pointing out that there are things to report now. There is still stuff to be done even if the flow of new content is sadly a bit slow. Testing for bugs after content is no longer 'new' isn't as sexy and fun but has to be done nevertheless.
I think the suggestion by snow of removing inactive QA testers was not so much a priority but that they have this silly 'quantity per server thing' thing. And the number of active people in GR, for example, has changed significantly from 12 months ago. And the total inactivity of some communities should be redressed. In addition, when the thing was set up snow asked the community leaders to choose so in some cases they just chose staff members. In some cases they were not the most active or even most interested community members. You may know what I'm talking about - it's not about anyone on GR.
A lot of those granted QA status haven't logged on for so long and there are plenty of others waiting desperately to do what they've decided not to. I don't see why he needs to purge tbh - he should just add more. I think he only wants more testers after all - perhaps removing people serves no purpose. As new content comes in, less active testers will return I guess so why remove them?
As for SWGEmu's progress. It's commendable but, because the new content comes thick and fast it might not be as solidly tested. After all, 95% of people logging on the SWGEmu TC do so in order to do PvP combat only and don't care about testing. However, perhaps they will, by pure force of numbers (as well as by good Representative coordination I've seen in some areas), be able to more easily find most bugs. I don't follow their dev team that much so I hope bug-fixing is given as high a priority as addition of new content.

I wasn't offended and I wasn't being snarky. Sometimes the tone of a comment can be lost through writing. I'm not upset at you or Snow or ANH or anyone. I'm simply commenting with my opinion.

Re: Whats going on at ANH
I know - we're just discussing ANH and "what's going on" over there. Certainly no bitterness toward you - all the top 3 or 4 reporters have done an awesome job.
Hopefully they will be adding some stuff soon and that will re-invigorate us all.

They added the other stuff there to make it look like anything but a cry for help, IMHO. I guess I'm getting in on this discussion a bit late, but this post really caught my eye. It's funny you should mention ANH needing coders badly. The thing is, there was a time when competent personnel were volunteering to join ANH in numbers, but were all being turned away. I myself went so far as to send samples of my work and a semi-resume to Snow, but never got a response back. The paranoia about "who's a spy for SWGEMU" and "who's going to take credit for MY code" is just a tad absurd. When I was on TG's staff, my permissions to the ANH testing boards were actually revoked, because I was alleged by ANH staff to be some kind of double-naught spy operating on behalf of the EMU team. Patent nonsense, of course. There was a time when I would have relished the opportunity to contribute to bringin back pre-CU SWG. I develop software professionally for a large insurance outfit, and a lot of the work I do is very database intensive. I'm pretty sure I could've made a substantial contribution. But, at the time when I was interested in doing so, I found both of the major teams to be such high-drama operations as to really put me off. It's apparent to anyone who's followed these teams that the egos involved have really, really hurt the emulator projects. It's just my hope that this thing does get done some day.

Though I was never thought of as a spy (both sides were a little crazy at the time) there was no reply, nothing. They are adding developers though, but at a very slow rate and we rarely get an announcement even on the forums that QA testers can read.

Re: Whats going on at ANH
I think it's easy for community members to turn into arm chair critics, but I have to say I have high respect for some of the coders over there at ANH. In particular there are a couple of people that have really been pro. Schmunzel and Rouse in particular have been exceptional. Snow and everyone involved are all super nice people. So while it's easy to criticize them for executive decisions and pace it's very difficult to criticize them over all. The community at large has to remember that they are doing us a tremendous service with this undertaking and they are doing so without pay. They've heard the community's opinion and I'm sure are taking it into consideration.
We're a very vocal group and we're passionate so some people are going to be louder than others.

SWGEmu = Communists :P. This proves my point that ANH has to stop the paranoia about SWGemu looking at them every second of the day.

I'm not sure what you meant by that Sasori. The spirit of communism is sharing for the benefit of all. It seems to me that the emu projects could use a little 'communism'.
