you saw it on the gaming ideas forum where i suggested it should be made a poll =)

and its gotta be one of the more realistic and original ideas on the forums.

i love this idea, its gonna provide another level of strategy to the game.
outnumbered? not a problem, fly into an asteroid field and with some careful fighting you may just out-live your opponent =P

but seriously, it gives us a consequence for not paying attention, for the first time in our lives we may die in space due to our own fault, and we cant deny it!!!

I love this idea , I was very annoyed that they didn't do any damage that I would accidently try to hit the rocks when I was going through an asteroid field just because I was totally bored of it :p

I put maybe....

this is the reason why from the gaming ideas post...

Love the idea... i think it would be cool...

but one problem... asteroids arent seen sometimes... they pop out of thin air... so when you are moving sometimes they appear right in front of your ship... SOE did this for realism affect but the problem is that its not a "real" asteroid you can see and fly around or maneuver.... its just an effect they add in when you are flying around...

space would need to be revamped for this.... in other words space needs work... lol

i put no because some people lag in space and can't fully control their ship with lag, also the jump you make to go into hyper space shoots you forward and often times you hit a lot of the smaller asteroids, stations etc. It is a good idea and i think it would be cool to have but not if you lagged out or hit a station while entering into hyper space.

*edit* im not sure if anyone else here has done this but a few in game friends and i would just fool around launching ourselves through player ships, stations, asteroids, etc.

I vote yes becuase then it acctualy requires skill and more realistic. Then you acctualy need skill to nagivate threw space insted of anyone being able to do it, so u can acctualy be a skilled pilot. and wouldnt it be a no lag server so that counts for space as well?

That no lag statistic is misinterpreted, people see it as you wont have lag while playing on the server, but that isnt quite correct, its just that the server will not lag which in a way reduces your lag.... Anyway....yea that would include space as well :p.

Yes for objects in space...no for Player Ships...ever try to Out run a 120 TS mk V engine...thats determined to ram into you? suicide tactics would cause to much greifing...i love the idea

personally, if you cant dodge a ship coming right at you then you get what you deserve, but for sake of keeping peace. and balance.

oh and about asteroids...cant you have them like constantly spawned? so that they dont just pop out of no where? im guessing your talking about the solid asteroids which actually are objects and not the visual cosmetic asteroids as well?

lol then again i also think that nebulas should eat away at your shielding, or at least stop their regeneration rate.

Other Ships - Yes
Stations - Yes
Large Asteroids - Yes
The little rocks you can't see comming - No

I think it would be awsome, just so long as it's not something that would suddenly surprise you. However the bigger things should be near instant kill.

I think other ships should be a special case. They can only do damage to you if both are flagged for PvP (Or BH/mark) Adds a new element to PvP while keeping the chance for greifing down. I saw in EVE Online once an ingenius newbie wannabe bounty hunter loaded up his frigate with explosives and rammed a well-known pirate in .8 sec space (High security - near-impossible to attack someone and survive retaliation from local security forces). he killed both the pirate and himself, and got several million ISK (Their version of credits) for his trouble.

i agree, if any of you have ever played star fleet, you were able to take like a borg cube and ram any vessle in the game for an instant kill, required no skill as a player.

I really have a problem with this on one condition: If there is lag then this certainly should not be put in. But since seeing how the size of our server will be and airing on the side of good luck I think that this would be an awesome feature to add.

no, u cant dodge the asteroids coming at u at full or even half speed accurately enough. You would hit every asteroid no matter what, and would take forever to get through areas taht are heavily populated with asteroids. The one area wiht all the asteroids would be useless, and unflyable. If you think its possible maybe you should try navigating a field on live and even with the fact with no lag, u still cant manuver aroudn them, maybe if the fields werent so closey packed together u could, but as of now u cant.
