Re: Add extra planets, when a Star Wars Galaxies emulator is released?
For those of you saying "Stop thinking of SOE and thin yadayadayda"
I am not thinking about SOE. I am in all honestly thinking about what is best for the progression and building of the server. Untill we get a static playerbase and have an idea of what we are going to be working with, planets should be the last thing we should worry about. There is NO proof that this will be a large server. Sure we have what is a good indictation of a very small player base, but nothing is final.
As is the planets disperse people far too much. With the current amount every four or five people will have a planet to themselves (this is judging by active posters, not registered accounts.). With the addition of a new planet, especially considering this is a PVP oriented server, it will spread what little base we have even thinner. Right now the focus should be on updated current content as well as increasing stability of our player base. Not trying to snipe the topic but this should be in planning and coding after all the important details are worked out as well as making sure it can be supported without effecting the interactions of the core player base too much.

I agree adding planets would disperse players out throughout the galaxy. I have also been thinking too many guilds may have a similar effect. Lets say we have 500 constant players, from what I've been reading it looks like there is going to be 50 to 100 guilds. To me, it seems like too many guilds for the number of players.
As far as stability of the player base, having a good stable server will help attract players. For this reason I really would really like to see the CU up and going while the devs work on Pre-CU so the servers can be stress tested while we wait for the game we all want. I am just worried that the servers everyone has to run the game will not be able to handle a significant number of players without lagging the server down. Running the CU would be a great test.

I vote you finish up Geonosis, then do Kamino, and then mabey, just mabey, do very small versions of all the playable spieces's planets. If nessasary we can make some stuff up[ for those. But if Kash happens, Hsskor should as well since it's in the same star system.

Re: Add extra planets, when a Star Wars Galaxies emulator is released?
well those who don't post are still gonna play alot anyways. They just don't post to often because it "makes the wait seem longer" And Geonosis isn't going to be out when we launch I'm sure. It'll talke PK a good long while to do it and even when it does come out we'll gain more players because our server will be the first to get Geonosis. Geonosis and newer planets will also attract many players also. And probably about 1/10 of those guilds will actually be set up.

Yeah only we don't have nearly the same amountof people a galaxy should have... You want to end up having 5 people per planet? You're on the right path.

Not if there isn't a population to populate the planet. It's going to be way to spread out as is.

Re: Add extra planets, when a Star Wars Galaxies emulator is released?
i think you guys worry too much... first off... i remember the live servers and they were too over ridden with cities....
secondly... after a while you will see a lot of servers fail... why? because they are run by poeple who dont know what they are doing...
so they will find another server... this one has a good community and "the last server to stand" has to be the best catch phrase for any emulater server...
so i am not worried... and hopefully neither is powerking or broken....
like i said... most stay with the 4 basic planets... why because of accessibility... everybody likes to have city wars... and best way to have that is be right next to your enemy... sell stuff... right outside the popular cities...

Where you around when they introduced Kashyyk or Mustafar? I was, and i can tell you that the other planets were dead... I didn't buy the expansions and i stuck around the old planets, so i know first hand. Adding planets will just bring a game that is not pre-cu... it'l have the same game play maybe, but adding planets changes the feel, atmosphere and general "customs" that came with pre-cu.
We just keep repeating ourselves, so I say lets just drop it and let the rest of the comunity be heard out.

i was playing since day 1 till right before NGE... took a few months break.. came back tried the NGE only because i was playing EQ2... so i took the package deal...
quit all SOE games when we lost FORT LOK to a bug that caused the cities to allow anybody to lay a house within city limits without rights given... so after this guy pulled up all our structures... i quit... i was done after no help with CSRs....
Lok was still alive... correllia was still alive... during CU and NGE... although servers are pretty empty in comparing when we talk about NGE.... during CU things were still good...
even with Kashykk still going... it only gave content.. didnt get cities to move... cities stay put... people live where they like... people just visit... for example yavin... to go to the geo caves... doesnt mean that cities will disperse...
either way... doesnt matter... we talking about content... adding content to SWG was something SOE never did...and if broken or power can do a good job on content i see no problem with it...no matter what i will still live on LOK...
in anycase... might as well drop it...

I agree with you that we really need some more content... But I can't keep but thinking that the best way to do that would be simply adding dungeons to the allready mostly empty planets we allready have. It would keep people on the planets we allready have and would be easier to add content, because all they'd have to make is dondeons, and not whole planets which will include dungeons of their own.

I agree, we need more DWBs on other planets.
