 Re: The Template Advice Thread
Oh OK it'll probably be a fun template. But if you're not going to hunt jedi then there's no point in taking the 3000 BH line.

 Re: The Template Advice Thread
I was thinking for another idea of doing MCH and MBio-Eng but i have a question.
I remember and double checked that the max for MCH is +70 to lvl and +3 pets but if i combine this with bio-eng how will that change it other than letting me have more pets. I never did bio-eng so i'm trying to figure if it could be really fun to combine the two.

 Re: The Template Advice Thread
I was trying to figure out some builds for Pikeman, and I thought up a few, though I'm not really sure how to build an effective Pike temp. A few I come up with are: Pike/Ranger for hunting and harvesting Pike/Doctor for tanking
And I don't know how well this one would work if at all, but I tried stacking defense and offense skill mods from other melee professions and it came out like this: MPike / MBrawler / Fencer 4440 / Swordsman 0444
The idea was to get dodge and defenses against states from fencer and defenses and counter attack from swordsman. I've never played SWG before. Will this work at all? It seems like there are probably better ways I can stack for this character. Or am I better off just sticking to a more straight-forward build?

For example, if you were to spend a lot of time sampling and experimenting with BE you could make three pretty good cats (or something) that you would be able to use all three of at the same time, due to the fact that you have experiemented them down to a level where 3 x the level fits into 70.

Both will be fun. It depends if you prefer being able to buff and heal exceptionally, or being able to track big game and create amazing base camps. 2) Some people play with no medic, but personally i would always take at least novice medic, preferably medic 2030. You will not be able to heal at all with no medic. 3) Counter attack will not have any effect unless you are holding a swordsman weapon. If you are not a master swordsman you will probably not be using swordsman weapons much. Perhaps drop some of the swordsman from your build and get some medic. Otherwise, solid template!

 Re: The Template Advice Thread
hi there ~ this is my first post on this forum and i must say that i have never played swg. i was just playing with the charackter builder a bit and thought about a template that looks to me a bit like its usefull in pvp and solo pve. master pistoleer - BH 0040 - Medic 4440 (or Medic 4044 ?) (or Medic 2034 + Scout 4040 ?) what do u think ?
other question is that i have read that master CM + master rifleman should be a good pvp temp. is it true ? and how is it pve ?
other temp that i have read about is master BH + master Pistoleer + novice Medic. usefull for pve/pve ?
what about master CM and Doc and maybe get a few marksmen boxes ? is it usefull ?
what about master Ranger - master Pistoleer (or Rifleman or Carbineer) - novice Medic ? usefull for pvm farming ?
thanx in advance ~

1) There's no point in Medic x4xx or xxx4. Drop these lines and free up points. Scout 4xxx is a great line to have, yes. You'll be able to kite better than any other non-ranger character. If you can find a way to fit smuggler xx4x into the BH/pistols build then you will get a devastating shot (last ditch). I think any combination of these will be great fun. 2) Well yes it is good. Both profs target the mind. It is considered somewhat "cheesy" though. Easy to play and devastating in PVP. It depends if you are bothered by what other people think! 3) Honestly, MBH is more about roleplaying than usefulness IMO. It is expensive to master and you would get pretty much everything with BH 3400 or 3040 anyway. If you want to be a master BH though, go for it! 4) Probably the ultimate support profession! Your friends will love you and you will be extremely useful in team PVE and especially PvP. But you must learn to play to your strengths, as you will have practically no defence or offence. 5) Master ranger/Master *any ranged prof* will be great fun and you will be the ultimate creature harvester. Master ranger camps are truly a beautiful sight to behold, and people will love going hunting with you.

 Re: The Template Advice Thread
Not so much that it should affect your choice of species. The benefits/drawbacks are minor.
Play whatever species you like most.

 Re: The Template Advice Thread
Rifles usually goes best with Ranger/CH since you won't have much in way of defenses, you can have your pets tank while you plink them from 60m away.

 Re: The Template Advice Thread
Sounds good, thats my final template after cooking and troubadouring... Never had even touched rifles, been carbineer and medic and master tk and ch but never ranger nor used rifle's... I even dont mess with the ranger on test cause i want to level it when the server has been running for some time... Anyhow, anyone got any experience with this template? Shouldnt be that weak but it doesnt seem that powerful to me, not that it matters

Bremer wrote: Anyhow, anyone got any experience with this template? Shouldnt be that weak but it doesnt seem that powerful to me, not that it matters It was probably the most popular Master Ranger temp. What you need to remember is that Ranger is always going to be PvE focussed. It grants no skills that are much use in PvP (except terrain negotiation). However, it adds lots of unique dynamics to Pve, including -Camouflage (means creatures are very unlikely to see you) -Ultimate harvesting (harvest huge amounts of animal meat etc. Sell this to docs for millions) -Tracking (your friends want to find something rare, like a gorax? Then they need your help!) -Tents (the master ranger tent is great - like a mobile fancy open-air house.) But no, it doesn't add any defences or special attacks, so it is not about "power" but about "function".
