 Re: The Template Advice Thread
They're both different. Obviously rifle has a longer range. Pistols have very good defences, and no negative modifiers when being attacked, whereas rifles have somethign like a 2x damage modifier if you are holding a rifle when you get attacked.
It depends if you want more firepower or more survivability.

 Re: The Template Advice Thread
narf, i have a question again sry for spamming. my new plan is to master pistoleer, get bh 0040 and medic 4040. 18 skill points remaining... first qeustion is, is there any skill "wasted" ? example : do i need medic 4 in both lines to use "high" stims and is it worth it ? second question is, why isnt medic x4xx usefull for this temp? third question is, what could i do with my 18 remaining skill points (focused on pure battle) ? would be scout xxx4 nice to add with my 18 skill points ? (no real idea what camps do ) sry for this noobish questions but i have never ever played this game before. hope u can help me and thanx in advance ~ May the Force be with you.

You only need 0040 to use "high" stims but first line increases their healing, and if you want to solo you'll want to be able to heal a lot. second question is, why isnt medic x4xx usefull for this temp? This increase how often you can heal other players but not yourself.third question is, what could i do with my 18 remaining skill points (focused on pure battle) ? I would put them toward novice brawler for intimidate and warcry which are both very useful skills to have.would be scout xxx4 nice to add with my 18 skill points ? (no real idea what camps do ) From what I remember camps were more useful for groups, not so much for solo, but another positive is that they're a lot of fun.

 Re: The Template Advice Thread
Warcry - makes the target unable to use any special moves for 10 secs (i think) unless you attack them again. Good when you need to take a breather and get yourself sorted.
Intimidate - halves the opponent's damage.
Good skills eh?
Personally i think medic 2040 is the max you need.

Put your camouflage kit on (ranger skill) and they will often not know who's shooting them.

 Re: The Template Advice Thread
4xxx Brawler, xx4x Smuggler, 3x4x BH, Master Pistoleer
Thats the template I use often. There's no medic, but you really don't NEED medic. Yes, the ability to heal yourself is a plus, but in PvP this template is amazing. Combined with a scatter pistol or geopistol and you are pretty much a god :P
Alternatively, you can drop the BH entirely, pick up 2x4x medic and put the rest of the skills into the defensive tree of TK and fencer, which just makes you that much harder to kill, but gets rid of two of your most powerful skills - fire KD and Eye Shot.

 Re: The Template Advice Thread
dear Shadrach Jegger why not drop the smuggler pistol line ? then u still have the speed + accuracy + torso shot + eye shot from bh pistol and u can get med skillz. i am no specialist in this game ... but as much as i read about it, the defence from fencer and tk doesnt stick with your pistol defence, as long as u wear a pistol. u can go novice brawler for warcry and intimidate and still skill 2x4x medic with some points left for either scout (pve) or medic 4x4x.

nuthing wrote: dear Shadrach Jegger why not drop the smuggler pistol line ? . For the Last Ditch shot, the meanest pistol shot in the game. Feign death can also be useful. If i were to try and fit some medic in here i would probably drop some of the pistoleer.

Khargash had it right. The three most powerful pistol shots in the game are not in the pistoleer tree at all. They are (in order) - Last Ditch (Smuggler), Eye Shot (BH), Bleeding Shot (BH). Last Ditch because it's an insane amount of damage (to a random pool), Eye Shot because it does almost as much damage as Head Shot, but at a closer range, and faster. and Bleeding Shot because it's a free dot that also does some moderate damage to health pool. And +melee defense, +ranged defense, and +state defenses (KD, Dizzy, Blind, etc) do stack regardless of weapon. I rarely had any medic in my templates. Even in CU, I had medic only when I had MBH/MCM (of course, at that point Stims became level-based and not skill based, so I could use them). I usually relied on buffs and foods to keep me alive, which proved very effective. A lot of the players I fought who had medic in their templates focused too much on that skill and not enough on their other abilities. Using intimidate, warcry, state applications, dots and posture changes, I am able to keep a player occupied or locked down long enough to regen a lot of white damage.

 Re: The Template Advice Thread
just fiddled with the template builder. Might try MFencer/MPistols/xx4x Smuggler/x3x4 TK. The defenses on that build are nothing short of astounding. And with 210 dodge, I could just sit and spam last ditch and laugh while someone tried to hit me and I just moved out of the way :P

 Re: The Template Advice Thread
I have three different builds and I can't devide which is better.
-Master pistoleer, bounty hunter x/x/4/3, smuggler x/x/4/x -master carbineer, master bounty hunter, all extra points go into pistoleer -master pistoleer, master carbineer, bounty hunter x/4/4/3
Which one is best?
