What will it like when GR launches? Will we be given a week's notice, a month's or will I check this website one day and discover that the game has gone live?

It's going to be pretty wild I think. Will be super cool to see everyone from these forums live with their avatar's. We'll certainly be talking about the configuration as we get it installed and set up.
As for the time line from when it's announced to when it goes live I can't see any intentional delays being built in. It will be on an as soon as possible basis.

How come its taken so long to get it up and running? I am in no way complaining, just wondering how come every SWG emultor is taking years to complete, whereas World of Warcraft ones get finished in a matter of months. I've never play SWG but have always wanted to btw

Hey Axl. I see this is your first post welcome to GR!

The reason it's taken so long is because World of Warcraft emulators are just making copies of a game that already exists. Basically, taking the files and coding of the existing game and copy/pasting it. What SWG emulators are doing is rebuilding an older game from bits and pieces of files and from people's memory. The developers of the SWG emulators are actually creating the game essentially from scratch to resemble Star Wars Galaxies in it's earliest incarnation.
