Re: Problems - help if possible
Hi there and welcome!
from your message, I'm not sure if you know what this site is. This is not Star Wars galaxies as it exists today. For that, you simply have to patch the game you bought.
This community will be a single server dedicated to playing Star Wars Galaxies the way it was some time ago, before a Combat Upgrade (CU) patch altered the game. This server will launch as soon as an emulator is complete. We are different from the "SWGEmu" site that you download the emulator test server from.
If you want a general idea about the gameplay this server will be focused on and what the group here is about read BrokenSoldier's FAQ posts at the top of these forums. then, in the "Star Wars Galaxies Emulator Support" forums, read the following:
New Member Guidestar-wars-galaxies-emulator-support/faq-new-member-guide-read-this-first-t3396.htmlThat should give you a basic idea and get the ball rolling in terms of figuring things out and deciding what kind of information to search these forums for from there.
As of right now, the SWGEmu emulator is a test center (TC). Meaning, not all professions are working, crafting hasn't been fully implemented, missions aren't available, etc. Once finished the game itself is more like a "sandbox" or open ended game, meaning you can be and do whatever you like to do. To me it felt like actually living in the world, which means there is no one way to play the game... just a great big learning curve that can look overwhelming at first, but that many people here will try to help you through. You may want to play with a Pre-CU "character builder" to get an idea of the various professions that will be available when this is finished as well as their skills. As of this moment, when the TC server is up, they are asking players to log in and help them test various things, or report bugs as players find them.
Unfortunately missions are one of the things not in working order yet. It will be fun when they're up and running. Also, at the moment you are not getting XP. You are simply training up and testing different professions right away. Some are in working order some aren't. Try to remember that its only a test server right now and the game is still being completed.
For now, once you get in game go to the Starport in Theed. Off to the right and left side there is a gungan (Jarjar Binks lookin guy). Talk to him. You can train up several master professions there to play around with. You can also obtain armor, weapons, tools, and clothing from him. After that I'd go to the cantina. /Listen to a musician and /watch a dancer to get a mind, will, and focus buff. find a doctor and get a full set of buffs from him/her. Then run out into the wild and have fun. Check out the different planets. In the cantina you can also listen to some of the conversations there and try to get a handle on what's going on.
