 Memories of PvP
This board has brought back so many memories, and I just thought I'd share one of my favourites.
Once, back when I was just starting out as a Droid Engineer, with some basic combat skills, I was chilling in a town on Starsider, who's initials I can only remember as AH and was somewhere in Naboo. I was with some friends from another guild, fellow imperials, when suddenly we hear some shots. One of my friends got a message that the town was under attack from Rebels, and we should probably go to save our bases pretty sharpish.
I decide to tag along despite having only rudimentary skills in combat because hey, it couldn't hurt, could it? How wrong I was.
The names and guild of these Rebels escapes me, but I do remember one of them was a Combat Medic, and this was when Combat Medic's REALLY hurt. The ensuing battle was pretty nasty for our side, none of us being very powerful players, and the Rebels actually having infiltrated the town with a small house in the centre that they used as a base of operations. It didn't help the town was pretty small with no cloning centre yet, so we had to make our way back quite a fair distance to rejoin the field.
At one point, I was incapacitated while attempting to sabotage one of the Rebel's cover operative detectors, and actually managed to talk the guy out of deathblowing me, before getting up and finishing the job (and then getting deathblowed =/).
The whole battle ended when our beleaguered forces sitting in the Cantina in the next town over, received a rather inspirational speech from the de facto leader of our resistance, and with our forces charging into town just as support from another, more established Imperial Guild arrived (as well as a few of my freelancer friends). We managed to chase the Rebels from town and I think the town mayor managed to revoke the infiltrator's housing permit.
I just think this story really shows the potential for SWG, the fact the Rebels managed to infiltrate the town first, and had put a lot of planning and forethought into this attack just shows the kind of players we had back in the day. The inspirational speech is something I find is missing from a lot of games these days as well.
Hope you enjoyed this Wall of Text =].
