 Re: Eve Online
Ravens are good for support mostly. I'd rather be sitting in an Apoc or a Rohk, though. Ravens are probably the best BSs for soloing Lv 4's, though.
I never pvp in my moneymaking ship. I have a NI Raven in empire so I can mission when I get short on cash, and all my pvp ships are in Syndicate. The Corp has a Corp Cruiser program and a corp hangar full of frigates and t1 frigate equipment so even if you're totally out of cash you can grab at least a cruiser to run out and do PvP with.
PVP Drakes are amazing tanks. bait ships for sure. I prefer a Sleipner or an Inty (Crow) for the most part, though. Maybe a T2 Thorax if I'm feeling cheap.

 Re: Eve Online
11 Mil SP Character and part of the 22nd Black Rise Defensive Unit (old FacWar Corp)
Chimera in the future but for right now I fly Abaddons and Armageddons. Just started flying Zealots as well (yay T2)
For those that have started playing and what not, you need to play with a Corporation or it just isn't fun. EVE is all about community.
Our Corp was out in 0.0 for about 6 months now. We did alright but our allies were just "flaky" and so we never had a strong base besides our own players. 0.0 was fun but I not going back out there unless we have a strong Alliance.
Been part of Balance of Judgement (SCALE) (now disbanded) and Vertigo Coalition (They suck don't join them)

 Re: Eve Online
If you want to join a corp that spends their lives in null-sec....and plenty of support.....including a very good intell channel always reporting reds...then join these guys skylighter. http://www.skkmc.com/I havent played in a long time so ive been unactive, but i assure you that sank is a very good corp. They are mostly a mining outfit but they are very active in pvp. They have folks with JF's so you can get all your stuff moved to where they have their stations set now.

 Re: Eve Online
oh EVE, how I love thee. too bad I haven't had much time other than to update skills. Working on some assault ship love at the moment. Amarr assault ships are hilarious. Also have been playing with trying to fail-fit a punisher to make it a cheap and hysterical pvp ship. I can solo a surprising number of other ships out there with it. Drones are a pain, but if the guy doesn't have them, then I can rock their world. perma-locked a hurricane and pounded it into oblivion the other day. Pretty sure the guy was a noob. Still, a ~1mil isk punisher w/fittings downing a hurricane made me feel good inside.

 Re: Eve Online
3.3 years for me. 2 characters.
1st char: 58.27m skillpoints in 198 skills. 71 skills are at V. 2nd char: 41m skillpoints in 108 skills. 60 skills are at V.
I've been playing very passively for the last year, though, what with my studies picking up again. Still, I love that I can log in, run two mining characters and bring in 15-20mil isk per hour while getting homework done.

 Re: Eve Online
Id be in the 20's if i wouldnt take 6 or 8 month breaks........but instead...
Im at 13,681,000 sp's and still hovering around 1.7 bill isk with 136 skills learned....17 at lvl 5. I joined yet another corp call the Nite-Stalkerz.
They have a alliance out in providence (CVA) which is kinda a huge stomping ground for AAA to invade but ive heard the intel is good and the support is swift. Hopefully i wont get into anything to terribly difficult..........yea right.

 Re: Eve Online
Huh? Wha? Sorry, but I found EVE excedingly boring to the point I would rather have hot knitting needles jabbed into my eyes. That being said, I'm glad to see some people like it.

 Re: Eve Online
The game is not for everyone.
Ive found that most people that have tried eve and didnt find it appealing are the ones that werent shown all that it delivers the proper way. Its not a game that you can become leet in over night.....or even a few months in some cases.
Mission running and mining are boring as hell. They both get old fast. Thats not even scratching the surface of whats in this game. You have to give eve a chance of more than a few days. If you get in eve, you have to be in for the long haul......or no haul at all.
Like i said...its not for everyone. I was a bit overwhelmed at first also.....but that passed quickly for me.
On a different note here..........ive noticed a huge zerg of T3 stratigic cruisers around the empire......mostly being tengu's. Ill have mine one day but im in no rush for it. Im glad the price has dropped on those things. I really didnt feel like giving 1 bill for a damn cruiser...no matter how good it is. Im seeing tengu's contracted for about 600 to 700 mill now. Thats just the hull only...no fittings.
The zephyr. Boy talk about a economic shifter that thing has become. After just a few days, the sw pod racer looking sail boat is being contracted for little as 20 mill and up. Its expected to be over a 100 mill isk ship within this time next year.

 Re: Eve Online
I'm holding on to mine as an investment policy. If I get strapped for cash in a year or so, I know I can sell it and get a few fitted hulls out of it.
I'm not going after a strat cruiser until LONG after the prices drop to something more reasonable.
And yeah, EVE is a terrible game (my corp makes this joke constantly. Eve is terrible, and we're terrible at playing it). But its REALLY terrible if you aren't doing something you enjoy. It get the most out of it, you should get into 0.0 as fast as possible, and start doing what you think you will enjoy. If becoming an industrialist is something you want to do, then do it, don't run missions. If pvp is what you want to do, then go for it. get into a corp, grab a tackling frigate, and go play. If, for some god-awful reason, you like mining, then get into a mining frigate, grab mining skills, and work your way into becoming a mining magnate.
