 Stop stealing my RAM!!
Okay, so I bought myself a 9600GT the other day and finally got around to installing it today. After doing so and installing drivers I went to update my computer score (vista gimmick) when I looked at my Memory count and saw that I had 2558MB as opposed to 3070MB before. Of course 3070-2558=512MB which is the equivalent of the graphical DDR3 the card SUPPOSEDLY had onboard.
One question: is this normal or shouldn't it be shared?

 Re: Stop stealing my RAM!!
I think it's normal. Properties under my computer does not combine graphics and mb ram...

 Re: Stop stealing my RAM!!
I think he means that his computer was advertised as having 3GB RAM and a 500MB onboard GPU.
In which case i would say that it's a bit cheeky. But whether it's normal or not, i can't say. I'd never use an onboard GPU!

No! No! It's a card, not onboard, a card. Is it normal?

 Re: Stop stealing my RAM!!
Oh right. You did say "onboard" in your original post.
Anyway, no that's not normal. I've never heard of a seperate GPU card that advertises its own RAM but then uses system RAM. If you've got 3 x 1GB RAM sticks, maybe they've given you a 500MB by mistake for one of them.

 Re: Stop stealing my RAM!!
No, I KNOW I have 3.5GB in there because the 512MB version has one half without chips. I have found out that there is a shared memory cap of 1024MB which is crap because I never asked it to do such a thing.
To respond to me saying onboard, I was talking about the GPU having onboard RAM.

 Re: Stop stealing my RAM!!
It seems that the vendor has been rather frugal with the truth.
Anyway, on the bright side - SWG will still run like a dream on it!
