Post Rank on the Galaxies Reborn Forum
How do we earn rank on this forum?

Is there a post somewhere that explains the formula for advancing in rank on this form?

I've been a member of this forum for 13 months. As of this post I've made 123 posts and I'm only a master corporal. Some of my posts are quite long.

I'm not really upset about it. And I don't think of rank on this forum as something that is really important, but I'm surprised that I've made so many posts and that I've been a member of this forum for so long and that I haven't advanced in rank further. I know that there are people who have made more posts, post more often and have been a member of this forum longer, but 123 posts and 13 months is nothing to sneeze at.

Its also tough to come up with something to come up with and post about when we can't play the game. When I first joined the forum I made some early posts to find out about GR and how to play on the test server. Then I searched for a guild and found one. Then I had some conversations with my guild to introduce myself and organize our efforts. But now I'm just waiting (not so patently) for the launch of the game.

123 posts? Pfft. It's not a lot of posts until it has at least four digits. :)

You seem to be really upset about your rank, is it really that meaningful to post about it? I don't mean to disrespect you nor am I trying to upset you but don't you think its there just for fun of it? I don't suppose its there to display your loyalty...

I think the rank is related to the post count.

As I said in my original post...

I guess the reason I'm posting about it is just curiosity and...

The next ranks are at 500 post (powerking didn't say in his post) and 1000 post (Warrent Officer), not sure about after that.

So I guess if anyone seriously wants to increase their forum rank they should make a bunch of quick little posts.

I don't think that's what they had in mind when this feature was introduced. I think it's such a high number to show those that are dedicated to the forums. I'm not saying that you aren't of course, you've just arrived later to the game than some others.

I don't tend to think about rank on the forums. I'm happy with my moderator position in the Marksman profession. And besides, there isn't that many people who currently frequent these forums, it'll only ever really be considered important once the our server starts up and we have the masses flood our humble abode! Then we can worry about looking superior to those who haven't been as dedicated.

If you make alot of quick little posts just to get a stupid rank then you will be considered a spammer..........and spammers are very disliked in any forum.

I agree. What I failed to mention in my previous post is that I'm not really concerned with rank on this forum. I started this whole thread just because I was curious and just as stalker said above there aren't that many people currently frequenting this forum, so this was something to write about. I didn't know the answer. I was a little bit curious. So I just figured I'd ask.

I have no intention of making a lot of quick little posts just to increase my rank on this forum and I certainly don't want to be considered a spammer. As I said in my last post that is what someone could do if they were serious about increase their rank. I'm not serious about increasing my rank. I'll just wait for it to happen naturally. Once this thread dies down I probably won't think of my rank again on this forum for a long time. The next time my rank increases I probably won't even notice right away.

none of this really matters. Simply put, no matter how many posts you have, I am superior.

I have more posts than you, btw. :smug:

I've been with GR for a while now, don't really care about rank, don't post a whole lot, only on forums that get my attention, similar to this post. I 'think' i'm liked here, and everyone that's pretty active knows who i am. I'm just fine with that. And some know I'm a pilotaholic, don't care if that isn't a word, i made it up, because i love flying.

Just keep it simple I guess. I haven't posted a whole great deal but I guess you just have to make sure to know that you're a forum regular and not a lurker.

I think posting in threads that only grab your attention is the right way to go and I do the same thing. I just started this thread because I was curious how the forum rank worked and it really seemed to spark some conversation. I think part of it was because in talking about how the system works I made a comment about how to game the system to get a high rank quickly. I have no intention of doing so. I was just making an observation. Most of my posts are actually quite lengthy. On more than one occasion by the time I hit submit I had been timed out of the forum.

I've also found myself posting more and more on the Off Topic forums as we wait for the game to launch.

I love flying too. Once I got into it I realized that it was a whole n'other (also not a word, but too bad!) awesome part of the game. When JTL launched it was as if SWG was two games in one. I also got deep into being a shipwright for a while.

As I have participated in this forum more and more I have enjoyed the comments of both of you and many others. I hope you all have too. And I'm not sure what a lurker is, but I hope you don't think I am one.
