Post Active vs. New Posts
What is the difference between Active and New Posts? Wouldn't an active thread have new posts in it? Wouldn't a new post also be active?

Active posts are threads in which there has recently been activity in them.

New posts are posts that you have not viewed yet, active posts contain unread and read posts.
